Fremont & Cochrane GRAND BANNER OF THE RADICAL DEMOCRACY, FOR 1864 campaign print published by Currier & Ives. An exceptional example in excellent condition with bright, vibrant colors and extra wide margins, this measures a full 13 1/2 x 17 7/8". This would display beautifully matted and framed. Fremont items from his short-lived 1864 campaign are quite rare. Lincoln dismissed the threat of a Fremont challenge in 1864, especially after hearing that only some 400 persons had attended the Radical Republican nominating convention which was held in Cleveland on May 31. The Fremont forces would later cut a deal with President Lincoln: Fremont would withdraw from the campaign if the President would remove Postmaster General Montgomery Blair, who was despised by the Radical Republicans. Additionally, It's quite likely that Fremont feared the possibility of a George McClellan presidency. $900-$1,000
